Creative Director Serge Ou has completed a series of television commercials for ActewAGL for advertising agency Grey Canberra. Each commercial features an individual story from either a consumer, employee or stakeholder about their relationship to ActewAGL. Grey decided that rather than script the commercials they would like to use ordinary people to tell their story in their own words.

‘Mandated To Protect – The Protection of Civilians in Peacekeeping Operations’ tells the story of the continuing challenges faced by peacekeepers on the ground and at a strategic level to protect civilians in vulnerable situations. War is no longer contained to those in the military; civilians continue to be targets of unimaginable violence. This training program informs its audience, including those heading out on mission, of the recurrent challenges they will face, and how the organisation is looking toward the future.

In October Bearcage delivered the Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science programs for 2011. This highly collaborative project involved close collaboration with the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, a science communications expert and an event company. The programs tell the stories of the recipients of awards from primary school teacher (Brooke Topelberg) to those awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize (Dr Ezio Rizzardo and Professor David Solomon). These inspiring individuals from around the country told their stories to Bearcage director Nick Wansborough, their work was illustrated with images of each recipient in their work environment and complimented with a high end design concept. The programs were shown at a gala event in the Great Hall at Parliament House to Prime Minister The Hon. Julia Gillard and an audience of more than 600 from the science community. The programs are now available for viewing on the Department of Innovation’s website.
